Organizational Needs Analysis

As an organization, the most impactful programs will address your challenges, or opportunities, and directly align with your goals.  SEEC provides such programs by thoroughly understanding your business, strategic drivers, culture and competency needs.  This is achieved through a comprehensive stakeholder interview and needs analysis process.

Key Drivers

Advisory Group(s):  Established to determine direction and scope of intervention, advisory group(s) provide feedback and approval of the organizational needs assessment report, the proposed solution and the program design.

Strategic Direction:  We take the time to listen and obtain a deep understanding of your organization, its strategic drivers, challenges and goals.

Culture & Context:  Equally important, we learn about your company culture, context and behaviours needed to succeed.

Participant Assessments:  Pre-program assessments will identify gaps and link personal development needs to overall program goals.

Core Competencies:  We work with your required leadership competencies, and to determine from our interview series and participant assessments any skill or behavioural competency gaps..  The program we will design will align with these specific competencies, the hard and soft skills required to perform at the required level, and focus on the specific gaps we unearth that need to be closed.

Understanding Your Organization

Our design philosophy, and what we consider to be global best practice, is that program development training should not only be competency-driven, but also strategy and culture-driven, and should be weighted heavily in application and programs designed to ‘take the training back to the job and the business’.

Using a consultative approach, the initial stage of our needs analysis process is interviewing your key stakeholders, including the senior team, other functional leaders, and a sample of the prospective participants.  For leadership programs, a sample of managers’ staff members are also interviewed as programs focus on managerial/leadership competencies and behaviours.

We seek to:

  1. Understand your organization, context and culture, major functional roles, strategic business drivers, business challenges, and goals.
  2. Identify potential issues, gaps, challenges and opportunities.
  3. Determine priority areas.
  4. Identify specific issues, strategies, contextual situations that will provide mini-case material that will be employed in the delivery of specific program modules.

We don’t use a ‘fixed’ questionnaire approach.  Instead, we explore topic areas and follow-up where appropriate to understand specific situations.

When developing leadership programs, it is imperative to recognize the qualities and competencies needed to move your organization forward.  To evaluate the gap between participant strengths and required competencies, a number of employee, engagement and culture surveys may be utilized.

A detailed report with recommendations and proposed actions for training and capacity building will be presented to the Advisory Group(s) for review and discussion.
